Las Vegas

Wow I'm really bad at keeping my blog up to date. I was looking through the photos on my phone and found some pretty cool ones from when my family and I took a trip to Las Vegas. I also recently started using panorama and got a couple good shots out of our hotel room window. Check it out!

Deep Sea Fishin!

So pretty recently I had the chance to go deep sea fishing and it was so much fun! We got on the boat and drove almost an hour out to the spot where we started fishing. So I thought, why not take some pictures? I took a couple shots from the front of the boat and the back and I have two favorites. It was cloudy which was a little upsetting but I think it makes the picture kind of cool!

Soooo.... I'm back

It's been a while since I last posted, a very long time... I know, I know last time I posted I said I would try to keep posting. Ya that didn't work out very well. I'll try a little harder this time but what can I say I'm a busy guy! Summer is over and fall is coming in fast which means leaves changing colors which make some pretty neat pictures. However, besides summer sunsets I absolutely love pictures of snow on the ground and trees. To end the summer I will leave off with some of my summer favorites!

P.S. I just realized that the pictures on the blog come out a little blurry. I'm sorry about that. I'll see if I can change that.

Palmyra, New York

Theres not much story behind this picture. Just a simple shot and that's all. I personally like it it as others may find it boring or bad.

Snail on a trail!

I know it's been a suuuuper long time since I last posted but I've been pretty busy this summer and haven't had much time to get on and post but I should be pretty consistent again now! So the story behind this was that I was walking down some trails through a grove and there were some bridges every so often. I was trying to find cool pictures in the water or moss or anything to do with the streams. I always thought that they were easy pictures to find. However, after many shots I found that it just wasn't working. When I pulled away I saw this really cool snail shell and knew I couldn't miss the opportunity. I took a couple but it was pretty easy. I think these were some of my coolest!

Photography to me is catching a moment which is passing, and which is true.

Fitballing!

Some friends and I one of the first days of summer went to the beach. We had just heard of this things called Fitballing. This is where you dig a hole and put an exercise ball in it. The exercise ball is like a trampoline and we did flips and stuff like that off f it. I thought an action flip shot would be cool so I too one and here it is. It isn't necessarily an amazing award winning photo but it's just cool because it's an action shot. What do you think?

The lonely starfish...

Back in October for my moms birthday our family took a trip to Block Island. We bought tickets for a ferry to take us over. We got on the ferry and I immediately started looking for picture opportunities because I knew there had to be at least one. After a while I had almost given up looking after finding only garbage and dirty water. The only thing I found that looked somewhat cool was these pillars poking out of the water. I kept shooting to try and get a good shot. Finally I noticed this lonely starfish on top of one of the pillars. This really pulled the shot together because now I had something more to focus on. It may not be the prettiest picture but sometimes ugly and broken things make for great pictures!

Buzzzzz

This shot was a pretty simple one to take. I was playing badminton today and a dragonfly landed on my elbow. I thought that was pretty cool so I pulled out my phone slowly so I didn't scare it away. I took the picture and it flew away. It's just as simple as that.

Ribbit! Ribbit!

So today or should I say tonight I was walking around and looking at the stars. I turned the corner where there were a lot of these little sidewalk lights that we have. I kept walking and saw a big spot on one of the lights but didn't really think much of it. I decided to go back and take a closer look and that's when I saw it was a frog. I decided to take a picture and what I thought really made this picture special is that the lighting made the frogs cool shape into a silhouette just a little bit. It doesn't take much to find a cool shot just some eyes and a camera.

Just some pictures!

Well I don't have much to say but I do have a lot of pictures so here are some. Besides I like using the pictures to show things more than words.

Family trip!

My family and I recently took a trip to a town known as Palmyra. One thing we did was visit this forest called the sacred grove. This setting was great and had a lot of places and cool things for pictures. I'm not a fan of taking pictures of big landscapes and stuff like that and part of it is just because I'm not that good at it. I'm more of a small detail photographer and I love taking them. I had a great time in the grove and got a lot of cool shots.

Raindrops

I would have to say that one of my favorite things is water. I don't mean like a glass of water with ice, I love the rivers and oceans. They always have so many cool features to them that make the coolest pictures. Ripples, waves, and rapids are like the special effects in the water that make the picture really cool. However, I would say they are some of the hardest pictures to take. It's hard to take a picture and try to fit only what you want but not squish it all in. it's hard to do such a magnificent thing justice by just a picture. You have to add all the little features in it to actually give real effect. The great thing is that they are everywhere. So if you can never find the shot you want with one place just move to the next.

Colors

Colors define almost everything we see. They tell the difference between pretty or ugly, dead or alive, and happy or sad. They are everything we see and can sometimes make up the most wonderful things our eyes will ever see. Color is absolutely everywhere and makes every single photo beautiful. More color makes animals prettier, nature more interesting, and photo more worth looking at.

The best time of the year!

If I were to name my favorite time of year, it would be summer. Warm weather and more hours with sun add to a great picture. Summer is the time when flowers are blooming, the grass is green, and kids are at play. The possibilities of things to photograph in the summer are endless. One of my favorites is flower shots. The summer is the best time to take flower pictures. Just barely bloomed and fresh flowers make great pictures. You don't get any of the brown droopiness that comes with the flowers as the season ends and the temperature drops. I'm not saying that fall and winter are bad because I would say those are some of the most popular shots. However, it's hard to find a beautiful flower mid winter that's not buried in snow and dead. Enjoy the summer time and document it with photos. Remember photography isn't easy and just because you might have something amazing doesn't mean it's easier to photograph.

A lot of people think that when you have grand scenery, such as you have in Yosemite, that photography must be easy.

Best of the beach

The beach is an amazing place. Besides all of the fun that comes with it, the beach can provide lots of great shots. There are so many great things at the beach and not many bad. What's better than a shot of the crashing waves or footprints in the sand? I would have to say some of my all time favorite shots are of sunset/sunrise on the beach. If you're not much of a nature photographer a beach setting can be a great background for a family photo. All in all, there is nothing better than the beach. Now remember next time you go to the beach to bring a beach chair, sunscreen, and definitely don't forget your camera.

Finding the perfect shot.

You may not know it but there so many things around you that can make one of those perfect shots. There are some things that help find that perfect shot. They can turn a boring old picture into a picture hanging in peoples houses all around. One thing in a good shot is the angle. A good angle brings new things into the picture that might make it stand out more than others. It makes it more interesting than just a straight on picture. Try new things until you find that artistic looking angle that you love. Next is finding good lighting. You don't want to much light in your pictures because it can cast bad shadows and make the picture bad. However, you don't want it to be too dark. This makes it harder to distinguish things in the picture and doesn't stand out from other pictures. I got a lot of knowledge from my grandpa about this because he had his own photography studio. He always said the best times to shoot are at about 7 AM and 7 PM in the summers. In other words just by about 1 hour after sun rise and 1 hour before sunset. Also a cloudy day can provide just the right amount of light as long as it's not to dense. Another benefit to the cloudy day light is that the clouds do add a nice touch to nature shots. Odds are you aren't going to get your perfect shot the first take. Sometimes it will take 100 shots before you find the picture you absolutely love. Experiment and try to find what you think is your perfect shot.

Get out and go for a walk.

As the world becomes more high tech, people forget to get out and go for a walk. Everyone is distracted by their fancy electronics and forget all about the true beauty there is out there. Beauty isn't a new high-score on Doodle Jump or beating a new level on Angry birds, it's rain dripping off a leaf, it's a wave crashing on shore, or just a rusty bridge. These things are so much fun to shoot. They are not going to be there forever and neither are we. Thats what cameras are for. Cameras are made for us to be able to capture the special moments in life.

A good snapshot stops a moment from running away.
